MariahCarey

According to MTV news, Mariah Carey is planning to star in her own Broadway musical. The R&B diva Mariah Carey, wants to have creative control over the show, which she says will include both new material and songs from 1994 album Merry Christmas. Meanwhile Mariah Carey is said to star in Tennessee, a movie which will be directed by Aaron Woodley and will be produced by Lee Daniels.

I don’t want to mention anything definitive until things are signed… It’s probably going to be a movie first. I don’t want to say a television movie, because it’s not like a cheesy network movie, but then it’s going to be made for the Broadway production. So the [TV movie] will set the stage for the stage.

9/11 World Trade Center

A film - ‘United 93′ - about one of the September 11 hijacked airliners is to open New York’s Tribeca Film Festival next month. Tribeca, which runs from April 25 to May 7, was set up by Robert DeNiro after the 9/11 attacks as part of efforts to revitalise the Manhattan economy. The festival’s Restored/Rediscovered section will highlight seven films that have been restored or preserved from film archives.

‘United 93′ is directed by British film-maker Paul Greengrass in a real-time account of the fourth hijacked airliner and is the first of a number of films to explicitly dramatise the al-Qaida attacks on the US.

psp movie

Retail reports are suggesting that Wal-Mart may be about to quit the UMD movie market, following the sales. Although sales of the PSP are quite impressive, press reports indicate that Sony’s proprietary UMD may be in danger of failure as a movie format. Universal Studios is not alone as 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Buena Vista and more are dropping the PSP’s format. Unfortunately, US giant Wal-Mart is losing faith, giving less space to the movie format.

An anonymous Hollywood executive was heard as saying that absolutely no one is watching movies on the PSP. However the real issue among consumers was pricing, as UMD movies are priced as high, or higher, than DVD versions.
