Miami Vice

“Miami Vice” cops Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx have beaten the “Pirates of the Caribbean” at the weekend box office. Michael Mann’s latest film, Miami Vice, which is based on the hit television show he executive produced in the ’80s took in over 25 million dollars.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” brought in 20.5 million dollars, bringing its total so far to over 358 million dollars while the teen flick “John Tucker Must Die” debuted in third place with 14 million.

Nicole Kidman the Villain in The Golden Compass

According to the news, Nicole Kidman will star in New Line Cinema’s The Golden Compass, playing the villainous and glamorous Mrs. Coulter, while Dakota Blue Richards has already been cast for the lead role of Lyra Belacqua, reports Variety. The action/adventure movie will be released on November 16th 2007 and the Shooting on the $150 million production is set for September at London’s Shepperton Studios. Chris Weitz will direct from his own script.

As for the plot, first of all it’s based on the bestselling Philip Pullman novels, the “His Dark Materials” trilogy is comprised of “The Golden Compass,” “The Subtle Knife” and “The Amber Spyglass”. It revolves around a young girl (Dakota Blue Richards) who travels to the far north to save her best friend, encountering shape-shifting creatures, witches, and a variety of otherworldly characters in parallel universes.

Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

According to Comingsoon.net, Hollywood celebrity Brad Pitt is set to star in a Paramount/Warner Bros. co-production named The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Written by Eric Roth from a story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the movie will reunite Brad Pitt with his Fight Club director David Fincher and his Babel co-star, Cate Blanchett.
Brad Pitt will play in the drama the role of Benjamin Button a man who hits age 50 and begins ageing backward and falls in love with a 30-year-old woman. The Hollywood actor will work on the movie project The Curious Case of Benjamin Button after his role in Ocean’s 13.
