Michael Haneke to direct the remake of Funny Games?

Funny Games

According to the news, Austrian director Michael Haneke will direct a Hollywood remake of his most controversial movie, 1997 horror movie Funny Games, starring Tim Roth and Naomi Watts. The drama/thriller was a success at the European box office being nominated for the Palme D’Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival in France, however Funny Games barely registered in the US. The movie it’s about two well educated young men who approach a family on vacation. The two are, apparently, friends of the neighbours, but soon the family will be imprisoned and tortured in a very violent way, which the viewers are forced mostly to imagine. For the remake it is unknown whether Haneke will turn again to the violent scenes of torture that characterised the original movie, Funny Games.

why is tim roth (actor, male) listed before naomi watts (actress, female)?

naomi watts is clearly the lead of this film, as suzanne lothar was in the 1997 original.

please do not slight oscar-nominee naomi watts against tim roth either consciously or subconsciously.

    regards.
