
According to the news, ‘The Departed’ director Martin Scorsese decided to quit Hollywood at least for now, because he is finding it harder to work on big productions and wants to focus more in making low-budget films. Scorsese said his next film will be an adaptation of a Japanese novel, The Silence, which was already shot. Hollywood movie director noted, that he had been wanting to make for 15 years to make this lower-budget film. Meanwhile Star Wars creator George Lucas revealed he stopped making movies based on big budget.
I am finding that when there are very big budgets there is less risk that can be taken but I don’t know how much longer that can hold out, with regard to what kind of movie they, the major studios, would like to make and the kind of film I’d like to make.

In other news, Martin Scorsese film The Departed debuted at number one for an opening weekend in North American cinemas. The movie generated $27m in the first week, having a top cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson.
Don’t blame you Martie…. it must be a joy to work with some of those people…….!!!! Yea right.
