Angelina Jolie needed Brad Pitt during emotional movie filming

In an exclusive interview with Eve magazine Angelina Jolie has admitted she needed her husband Brad Pitt by her side during the filming of biopic A Mighty Heart, (trailer). The actress, who was proud to play the role, was really touched by the emotional subject of the movie and needed to feel Brad and children close to her. The movie follows the true story of the widow Mariane Pearl (Angelina Jolie in the film) who’s husband, American Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and killed by British-born, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, known as Sheikh Omar in Pakistan. The story, which is also about breaking down cultural barriers than terrorism, was more dramatic because when her husband died Mariane was six months pregnant with their son Adam. Mariane was the one who wrote the book A Mighty Heart: The Daniel Pearl and Brad Pitt bought the rights long before he met Angelina Jolie.
Considering it was such a gruelling film to make I needed to be near Brad and the children. He was at home with the three kids and they were having a good time together, and I appreciate that because I did not have a father who was ever at home. So for me to see Brad that hands-on all the time was great.
I try not to let my emotions get in the way. I grew up in LA – imagine – and then I got to Sierra Leone and see a sea of people who have had their legs cut off. I broke down and I still do – but that’s no use to them. Letting my emotions get the better of me does not help me stay focused. It doesn’t help me concentrate on policy-making.
