Katherine Heigl wins Emmy for ‘Best Supporting Actress’

As a recall Grey’s Anatomy received ten nominations for this year’s Emmy, among those was also a very precious award, for Best Supporting Actress. Even more when, three stars from Grey’s Anatomy (Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, and Chandra Wilson) were nominated for this category. A surprise indeed not only for us but for them too. The one who took the prize at home was Katherine Heigl thanks to her reprisal of the role of Isobel ‘Izzie’ Stevens. Heigl - who as been in the headlines lately for her engagement to musician Josh Kelly - was wearing a stunning white gown at the ceremony where she also happened to accept her Emmy for Best Supporting Actress.

Kate Bosworth to star in Veronika Decides to Die

According to the recent news, the famous “Superman Returns” star Kate Bosworth will star in a feature adaptation of the best-selling novel “Veronika Decides to Die.” The movie has a touching story and could be Kate’s chance to win a Oscar. In short, the actress will play a woman who fails to suicide finds herself in a mental institution were she discovers that she only days to live. The movie “follows her recovery as she finds true love and a newfound will to survive.”

British filmmaker Emily Young will direct the film project “Veronika Decides to Die.” from an adaptation of Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho’s book, which reportedly has sold more than 9 million copies. No other details are known about the upcoming movie, hopefully more soon we will hear more about it, as it’s sound promising.

In other Celebrity/Movie news, Kate Bosworth’s most recent movie in which she stars is in the drama “The Girl in the Park”. The film premiered a week ago at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Jon Stewart will host Academy Awards

According to the latest reports, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced recently that Jon Stewart, who also hosted the 78th Academy Awards telecast in 2006, will host the 2008 Oscar Awards ceremony. The big event will air in February and Jon Stewart is thrilled to be again the 2008 Oscar host, which will take place Feb. 24 at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.

Oscar telecast producer Gil Cates told The Associated Press that not only Jon is “a very, very nice guy and very easy to work with,” but also that they “need a host who is not afraid of the unexpected, who can stand out and really work a room and deal with a live show.” As a recall Stewart who also hosted the Grammys in 2001 and 2002, and though the 2007 show, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, drew 40.1 million viewers, compared to the 38.9 million who watched when Stewart hosted the previous year, everybody who has a word to say about the ceremony wants back Jon Stewart.
