Hollywood Awards winners

The 11th Annual Hollywood Film Festival’s “Hollywood Awards” ceremony, was held recently at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. This year’s winner of the “Hollywood Movie of the Year Award” went to Zach Snyder’s “300″ being chosen by the public voting online, beating up “The Bourne Ultimatum,” “Hairspray,” “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” “Ocean’s Thirteen,” “Ratatouille,” “Shrek the Third,” “The Simpsons Movie,” “Spider-Man 3,” and “Transformers.”

The Hollywood Film Festival presented the “Hollywood World Award” to “4 Months, 3 Weeks And 2 Days” by Cristian Mungiu. A drama from Romania, distributed by IFC Films, a story which centered around an illegal abortion.Other winners were “Gone With The Woman” by Petter Naess as Best Feature Film, “Knee Deep” by Michael Chandler named as Best Documentary, “Crossing The Heart” by Steven Hood got Best Short Subject,”A Gentlemen’s Duel” by Francisco Ruiz and Sean McNally is Best Animated Short Subject while Timz “Iraq” by Timz, aka Tommy Hanna, received the Best Music Video.

Angelina Jolie to be honored by The Santa Barbara International Film Festival

According to a new report, the Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie will receive the Outstanding Performance of the Year Award for her performance in the movie A Mighty Heart at The Santa Barbara International Film Festival. The actress who already receive an Academy Award and was three-time Golden Globe winner will be honored for her role as Mariane Pearl - the wife of a murdered journalist - early next year on Feb. 2, 2008. Tickets are on-sale and the event will take place at the Arlington Theatre. It seems the timing of the announcement and DVD release is perfect for Angelina Jolie’s Oscar race for best actress.

Julia Roberts honored with American Cinematheque award

According to the news, the 22nd Annual American Cinematheque Award went to Julia Roberts recently, being honored for for her contribution to the film industry. The American Cinematheque was extremely pleased to honor Julia Roberts - who also won the actress an Oscar and a Golden Globe - at this year’s celebration. Julia’s Pelican Brief co-star Denzel Washington presented her the award while chairman Rick Nicita reportedly gave the Hollywood actress one of the glorifying introduction. Movie celebrities like Tom Hanks, Natalie Portman and Sally Field were present at the award ceremony in Beverly Hills.

Last year, Julia presented the American Cinematheque award to pal George Clooney. Previous Cinematheque Award recipients include Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman, Sean Connery, and Al Pacino.
