Johnny Depp tops People’s Choice Awards Nominees

According to the news, the nominees of the January’s 33rd People’s Choice Awards (which are based on a public vote) were announced in front with Johnny Depp - who on the Favourite Male Movie Star award last year - being nominated in three categories: for Favourite Male Movie Star, Best Male Action star and Favourite On-Screen Match-Up with his co-star Keira Knightley. In other categories, Johnny Depp, Samuel L Jackson and Jet Li will fight it out for the Male Action Star prize while Hollywood stars Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry and Sandra Bullock will compete for Best Female Movie Star.The People’s Choice Awards will take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on January 9th while People’s Choice nominees for categories including favourite movie, new TV comedy and remake of a song will soon be announced.

2006 Black Movie Awards Nominations

Akeelah and the Bee

Film Life’s 2006 Black Movie Awards, A Celebration of Black Cinema: Past, Present and Future, will honor creative achievements by African Americans both in front of and behind the camera. The ceremony which will be hosted by Tyler Perry will have Oprah Winfrey, Kimberly Elise, Angela Bassett and Ruby Dee as Presenters. Among the artists nominated are also Queen Latifah, who was nominated for her work in Last Holiday and Tyrese Gibson, who is up for Outstanding Performance by an Actor for his role alongside the Game in the movie Waist Deep.  With four nominations each representing the top nominees are Akeelah + The Bee and ATL. This year Black Movie Awards, A Celebration of Black Cinema: Past, Present and Future will air Oct. 18 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TNT taking place at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on Oct. 15.

Grey’s Anatomy and 24 lead Emmy Nominations!

The medical drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and real-time action series ‘24′ lead this year’s Emmy Award nominations, receiving 11 and 12 nominations respectively. The two shows will battle in Outstanding Drama category, and will go up against long running HBO gangster show ‘The Sopranos’ and the recently cancelled political drama ‘The West Wing’.

Among many Emmy nomination, Lost and Desperate Housewives failed to get a Best Series nomination while ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, ‘Two and a Half Men’, ‘Scrubs’, ‘The Office’ and ‘Arrested Development’ are all in the running to be named Outstanding Comedy Series. The winners will be announced at a lavish Los Angeles 58th Annual Emmy Awards ceremony on August 27 which will be hosted by Conan O’Brien.
