You won’t believe this! According to the news, Jack Nicholson reportedly turned down (at first) the part of Mafia gang leader Frank Costello in ‘The Departed’, in Martin Scorsese’s new movie because it did not have enough sex scenes. The director agreed to bring some raunchy scenes to the old actor’s part and Jack Nicholson agreed to play in the movie. However, the Hollywood actor thinks that ‘The Departed’, which also stars celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon, could be the movie that can bring Scorsese his first Oscar. Opening October 6, ‘The Departed’ is a remake of the 2002 Hong Kong hit ‘Infernal Affairs’.
You might like this movie a lot as Jack Nicholson plays the head of a Mafia gang that is infiltrated by an undercover police officer at the same time as one of the Mob members infiltrates the special investigation unit of the Boston police force. In the explosive new crime drama ‘The Departed,’ finds Leo portraying Billy Costigan, an undercover cop in South Boston who attempts to take down gangland chief Frank Costello (Nicholson) by infiltrating the Irish mob, while Damon’s character Colin Sullivan, a hardened young criminal with mob loyalties who is rising quickly in Costello’s department in the Special Investigation Unit.
These kind of monsters usually don’t have a sex life on screen, so I wanted to bring that to the part. He’s a bad nut job so he’s evil sexually too. F**k ‘em, kill ‘em, you know. Martin has made some great films, but this one is his best.
