HD-DVD

According to Reuters, a survey showed that about one in five may buy high-definition DVD players or discs in 2006. Peerflix surveyed about 1,100 of its active users, who said they buy an average of five DVDs and rent an average of seven DVDs per month, about how likely they are to buy a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player or discs. 6% of Peerflix said they were “very likely” and 13% were “somewhat likely” to buy a high-definition player in 2006.

In other news, Sony has delayed Blu-Ray disc to June 20, which, in theory would allow HD-DVD to further the nonexistent market. While a good question is if Microsoft unveil an HD-DVD attachment at E3 for their Xbox 360, the survey makes you wonder if anyone cares about next-gen DVDs yet?
